My Story

Growing up in western Colorado, I actively pursued sports (softball, basketball, and golf), all types of outdoor activities, and I LOVED school. It was never a question - I always knew I wanted to teach. I attended Colorado State University for my undergrad degree in both English and Education, and I completed my Master’s at the University of Colorado, Denver in Curriculum and Instruction - Secondary English. Right out of college, I achieved my dream job teaching 9th grade Honors English and 11th grade AP Lang at my dream high school, working with a dream teaching partner, and also coaching all three sports that I loved! Life was great - and busy! Following ten successful years teaching high school English, our family moved to California, and I chose to stay home and raise our two boys. Now that they are older, I’m looking to utilize my skills to provide one-on-one tutoring to our local community. I have a passion for teaching and helping students excel in language arts, and I can help with everything from basic writing instruction to the complexities of AP exam prep. As a caring, enthusiastic, and direct educator, I look forward to helping your student reach his/her full potential. After all, writing is the one skill necessary across all professions and in all fields of study.

  • "Few people are lucky enough to have a teacher whose lessons they reflect on throughout their lives. Whether I am writing an article for my job in sports media, working on my debut novel, or simply devouring the latest book off my shelf, I find myself regularly coming back to the teachings of Mrs. Anastacio."

  • "What I learned from her that year, as well as the many years after, not only taught me the joy and nuance of writing, but set me up for my subsequent Ivy League education and to eventually become a writing teacher myself. Megan is a master of the ideals that every good teacher strives to embody. She is kind and empathetic while holding her students to the highest standards. She loves teaching and uses every skill she possesses to help her students learn."

  • "Her passion for literature and writing is infectious, which fosters a love for the subject among her students. She has a remarkable ability to adapt her teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student, ensuring personalized and effective learning experiences. Her constructive feedback is always thoughtful and aimed at helping students master strong critical thinking and communication skills."

  • "Megan is, without a doubt, the most effective teacher I have ever encountered, surpassing even my undergraduate and graduate professors at the University of Illinois and Stanford. Her dedication to fostering a deep understanding of language, composition, and critical thinking is truly remarkable."

  • "I frequently receive compliments on my writing skills, which I can nearly wholly attribute to my two years of instruction with Megan. She instilled in me the importance of clear, specific, and active writing, pushing me to produce excellent work and never settle for mediocrity."

  • "If you have the opportunity to work with her as a tutor for your children, I recommend jumping at the chance."

  • "I am thrilled that you have found Megan and have the opportunity to make a connection with her. I hope you’re ready to experience a genuine rarity: a bona fide, top-of-her-game educator."
